In our country, Every year medical examination is taken in a particular way. Candidates need to sit for only one admission test for all the Medical Colleges. After that, considering their merit they will get their colleges. Private Medical Colleges are also included in this process. Besides these, A candidate must have Biology, Chemistry, Physics among all the subjects taken for Higher Secondary Certificate examination. Today, I am going to go over the names of Top 10 Medical College in Bangladesh.
01. DHAKA MEDICAL COLLEGE (DMC)
Dhaka Medical College (DMC) is a Public Medical College situated at Bakshibzar in Dhaka. Dhaka Medical College is one of the oldest Public Medical Colleges in Bangladesh. They have an unbeatable lead over other medical colleges in our country. This institution established in 1946. Every year, after passing HSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate) or A- levels examination about 66,000 students from all over the country give the medical college admission test. It is to say that, from those 66,000 students top 200 students get the chance to study at Dhaka Medical College. About 20 foreign students are included in selected 200 students
02. SIR SALIMULLAH MEDICAL COLLEGE (SSMC)
Sir Salimullah Medical College (SSMC) is a state-funded Medical College in Bangladesh. It is established in 1961. Well, to be very specific, it is situated at Mitford Road, Babubazar in Dhaka. Usually, this medical college offers preclinical (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry), paraclinical (pathology, microbiology, forensic medicine, community medicine, pharmacology), diagnostic (clinical laboratory, radiology, and imaging), nephrology, cardiology, skin-and-venereal diseases), pediatrics, surgery (general surgery, orthopedic surgery, pediatric surgery, anesthesiology, plastic surgery, Urology, cardiothoracic surgery), ophthalmology, neurosurgery, gynecology and obstetrics, and, clinical medicine (general medicine, psychiatry) etc . Besides, this institution has around 1,000 students.
03. SHAHEED SUHRAWARDY MEDICAL COLLEGE (ShSMC)
Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College is an eminent Public Medical College which is situated in Dhaka City. This Medical College contains 900 students. This institution established in 1963 as Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital after that in 2006 it started Medical College. Student gets a BDS degree from Dhaka University after completing the 4th year. Every year this college arranges cultural programs and sports week. After the establishment, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College gained a lot of success in postgraduate & undergraduate research and conferences. The bonding between alumni and students is noticeable in this institution.
04. MYMENSINGH MEDICAL COLLEGE (MMC)
Mymensingh Medical College is a well known Government Medical College consists of a student body of 1000. Some alumni who are such notable and this indicates Mymensingh Medical College as the most influential institution too. Moreover, Mymensingh Medical College established in 1924. Every year after medical college admission test 197 students get chance in MBBS and 52 in BDS courses. Especially, 10% of foreign students and 138 students get admitted to different postgraduate courses. The hospital is standing on 58 acres of land. Mymensingh Medical College is famous among other medical colleges for its beautifully structured campus.
05. CHITTAGONG MEDICAL COLLEGE (CMC)
Chittagong Medical College (CMC) is positioned in Chittagong. It is the first medical college in the south-eastern portion of Bangladesh. It established in 1957. This institution has around 1,050 students. Especially, it has 31 postgraduate courses. Moreover, CMC offers MD courses in dermatology, pediatrics, cardiology, nephrology & internal medicine. CMC also runs MS courses in gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, pediatric surgery, ENT and obstetrics & general surgery. Then again, it also has international collaboration with the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands; China Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan; University of Kobe, Japan.
06. RAJSHAHI MEDICAL COLLEGE
Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) is an eminent Public Medical College in Bangladesh which established in 1958. This Medical College is located in Rajshahi. Besides, It is also affiliated with Rajshahi University. Every year 200 students get the chance to admit in Rajshahi Medical College for M.B.B.S. program. It has a dental unit also. In that unit, 50 students get the chance to admit further. There are around 40 faculty members. Rajshahi Medical College has a large hospital which is the source of advanced health care of the northern part’s people in Bangladesh. It is to say that Rajshahi Medical College is the first medical college in the northern part of Bangladesh.
07. SYLHET MAG OSMANI MEDICAL COLLEGE (SOMCH)
Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College & Hospital (SOMCH) is a renowned Government Medical College in Bangladesh. It is situated in the northeastern city of Sylhet. Besides, This Medical College is academically affiliated with Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. It established in 1962. Moreover, it consists of 1,400 students. Nevertheless, around 1000 undergraduate students and around 400 postgraduate students are studying here. It has more than 150 faculty members. The college and hospital spread over an area of 206,355 sqm. Presently, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College offers 20 postgraduate courses.
08. SHER-E-BANGLA MEDICAL COLLEGE (SBMC)
Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) is a state-funded Medical College in Bangladesh which established in 1968. Besides, it’s former name Barisal Medical College. However, it is situated in Barisal. Sher-e-Bangla Medical College offers the undergraduate courses of MBBS and BDS.MBBS course consists of 2 years in preclinical studies (Phase-1) & 3years of Paraclinical (Phase-2) and clinical (Phase-3) studies. For instance, this institution has 1080 (MBBS) & 50 (BDS) students. Moreover, it is affiliated with the University of Dhaka. Along with the information, this is to say that this Medical College is enriched natural scenic beauty.
09. BANGLADESH MEDICAL COLLEGE (BMC)
Bangladesh Medical College is the first private medical school in Bangladesh which established in 1986. Moreover, It is situated at Dhanmondi in Dhaka. Bangladesh Medical College is academically affiliated with Dhaka University as a constituent college 1988. Every year around 110 students get the chance to admit to Bangladesh Medical College. Bangladesh Medical College offers a 5-year course which is approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). 10. RANGPUR MEDICAL COLLEGE
Rangpur Medical College is a Government Medical School. It is situated in the northwest area of Rangpur. It is established in 1970. It is affiliated with Rajshahi University. This institution spreads over an area of 7597 sq. meters. Around 197 students get the chance to admit in this medical college for undergraduate course. The campus of this medical college is naturally beautiful and infrastructures are architecturally well designed.
